Figure AI is a robotics company founded in 2022 by Brett Adcock, focused on developing and commercialising humanoid robots for real-world industrial applications. Figure AI's product line includes the Figure 01 (original prototype), Figure 02 (deployed commercially at BMW), and the recently unveiled Figure 03 featuring soft textiles for safer human-robot interaction. The Figure 02 completed an 11-month pilot at BMW Plant Spartanburg (USA), assisting in the production of over 30,000 BMW X3s. Operating five days per week for ten hours per shift, Figure 02 moved over 90,000 components and accumulated approximately 1,250 operating hours. This deployment represents a significant milestone, demonstrating that humanoid robots can safely perform precise, repetitive manufacturing work.

As of early 2026, Figure AI has raised over $675 million in funding, establishing itself as a serious commercial player alongside competitors like Tesla Optimus and Boston Dynamics. Figure 02 units are now being deployed at BMW's Plant Leipzig in Germany starting in summer 2026, marking the first deployment of Physical AI in European automotive production.
